ONE TO ONE PERSONAL STATEMENT COACHING

 £100

These are intensive personal statement sessions. Each Zoom session lasts an hour.

If you haven't started yet, this is one of my favourite ways to work as it's about discovering what you have to offer in the context of midwifery. Great fun and the statement appears out of seemingly nowhere, but actually, you will have so many useful skills you might not have thought of yet. It's one of the reasons the service is highly reviewed and has been around for ten years. It's about getting into midwifery as a real, imperfect person - that’s totally fine.

By the end of our time together, 99.9% of students know exactly what they need to do. I’ll then invite you to spend a bit longer on your statement getting it to say what you need it to. I am happy to look through again before it goes off. Students rarely need to jump back onto Zoom at this point, I’ve only done that once in the last five years or so. Usually you’re good to go.

1. Choose which of your midwifery skills, insights and experiences to include

We’ll identify your strengths. Midwifery pulls from so many different disciplines and we’ll find the skillset that’s relevant to the women and clients who will be in your care. A lot of what’s needed is confidence and the ability to put yourself forward.

2. Show you understand the role of a midwife

You’ll need to show you know the scope of care. This means having a detailed understanding of what midwives do and the governing bodies, philosophy and research that underpins the profession. There are ways of demonstrating you understand the role beyond doubt and going a little further than the obvious will help you show your potential. Showing you’d be a safe student midwife is also key.

3. Address structure, grammar, spelling and proofreading

Once you have a solid plan or draft, you can go away and work on your statement. After that, send your statement back to me. I’m happy to proof read or otherwise help, anything under 20 minutes is fine.

Option: Make it Simple

Opt for video feedback. Send me your draft/anything else, I’ll record video feedback and send it to you. No need to book and attend a session around your busy schedule.

What People Are Saying

“Ellie's personal statement coaching service was invaluable, she goes to great lengths to help you write an amazing statement, helping with word count, sourcing information for you to read and include and is supportive throughout her feedback.

It really helped me deal with the stress of writing a personal statement and start to enjoy writing it again and I'm certain that the admissions tutors will see that.”

— Sara

“I would recommend Ellie’s service to anyone to get to the interview stage. Entering this process, it seemed terrifying and impossible, but Ellie gave me the help and confidence I needed to show the admissions tutors my skills.

Ellie doesn’t write your statement for you, but she helps you to showcase the best of yourself in what you have already written. I now have 5/5 interviews and an offer (still waiting to hear back from the rest!) and cannot believe it!

Without Ellie’s services, I don’t think I would be in this amazing position - the investment is so worth it as I know that I won’t have to go through this process all over again ? Thank you so much, Ellie!”

— Jennifer

“The only difference between the first year I applied and the second year was Ellie. The first year I wrote what I thought was a good personal statement and sent it off with fingers crossed. I didn't get invited to any interviews and was devastated. After licking my wounds I decided to have another go at applying.

This year I received invites to 3 universities for interview. I withdrew because I received an offer from my top choice! My only regret is not using Ellie's service the first year I applied.”

— Jennifer

“I found my second draft was ten times better. I came across much more organised with my approach and it allowed me to remember to cover multiple aspects of my experience to present myself as a more well-rounded candidate.

Secondly, Ellie gives lots of suggestions of alternative material to read to provide further useful information regarding the role of the midwife, rules and standards and industry research.

I took the opportunity to do lots of further reading based on these suggestions. I truly believe it helped me to come across as a knowledgeable candidate and developed my confidence going in to interview.”

“Ellie recently helped me with my personal statement. I just wanted to say a huge thank you, I have already received 5 out of 5 interviews! I could have never imagined that. I truly admire how much effort Ellie puts into supporting every statement!”
